Lenka Lichtenberg & Yair Dalal
Lullabies from Exile
Aug 4 Fri 8 p.m. @mon ami
Admission: 19.50 € / 10.50 €

Two dear friends - the Baghdad-born oud and violin virtuoso Yair Dalal and the Prague-born singer Lenka Lichtenberg -  have created a musical fusion of the world’s oldest continuous Jewish tradition - that of Babylon - and Ashkenazi European Jewry. The intimate music of “Lullabies from Exile” arches from the intricate rhythms of the ancient Iraqi Jewish tradition to pure, soulful melodies drawn from Eastern European wellsprings. This special project has enchanted audiences in Canada, the Czech Republic and Israel alike, bringing together listeners from across the spectrum - Sephardic, Ashkenazi, and far beyond - with songs in Iraqi-Jewish, Yiddish, Czech and Hebrew that reflect the personal histories and memories of both artists.

Line up:
Lenka Lichtenberg (CDN) - voice, guitar, harmonium
Yair Dalal (IL) - oud, violin, voice
Alan Bern (D/USA) - accordion
Robert Fischmann (CZE) - flute, kaval, penny whistle, ney
Tomas Reindl (CZE) - percussion
