Sarah Myerson (USA; voice)
is an ordained cantor actively working to connect egalitarian Jewish religious communities with secular/cultural Yiddish communities.
She studied Yiddish in New York (YIVO-Bard) and Israel (Naomi Prower Kadar, Beit Ben Yehuda) and has taught Yiddish song workshops with Ethel Raim, Sasha Lurje and others in the USA (Yiddish New York, UCLA, KSS), Israel, and Europe.
Sarah has conducted and directed synagogue and community choirs since 2003. She also loves singing in choirs and is honored to have worked under world-class conductors, including Zubin Mehta, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Kent Nagano, the late Krzysztof Penderecki and the late Jiří Bělohlávek.
Sarah writes and performs new compositions, including with the Jewish spiritual music duo Shekedina, and works as a musician, speaker, educator, and Yiddish dance teacher/leader.
She holds a Master of Sacred Music and Diploma of Hazzan from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America and a Bachelor of Music (Composition Honours) from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
