Papirene brikn (Paper Bridges) Tsvishn os, vort un lid – Between letter, word and song
Mon, Aug 3 ‘26   8:00 p.m.
@mon ami (Weimar)

The ‘paper bridge’ is a well-known motif in the Yiddish world, made famous by the great Yiddish poet Kadya Molodowsky. On her ‘paper bridge’, different generations of Jewish women meet and strike up conversations with one another.

This concert evening featuring poetry, songs and visual art brings together four women who are connected by a bridge that is the Yiddish language. In a moving and captivating evening, they weave together 21st-century forms of Yiddish expression – accessible, inspiring, sensual. Let yourself be carried away by Polina Shepherd’s unique musicality. Experience how Ella Bergelson brings Yiddish letters, texts and fragments to life before our very eyes, and join us in celebrating the fact that our century, too, has its Yiddish female poets!

Line-up:
Polina Shepherd
(UK) - voice, piano
Diana Matut (DE) - new Yiddish poetry
Katerina Kuznetsova (DE) - new Yiddish poetry
Ella Ponizovsky Bergelson (IL/DE) - visual art, calligraphy

There is a possibility that it may get quite hot, so we recommend bringing a (silent) fan, if you have one, to help keep yourself cool.
