Alevtina Parland (FI; trumpet, voice)

is a trumpeter whose career took off when she was recruited by the local klezmer kapelye in Helsinki at the age of 13. She’s been on the path of Yiddish music ever since.

Moving between cities and continents (Helsinki – St. Petersburg – Istanbul), Alevtina has developed a bright, distinct and easily recognizable sound on klezmer trumpet. She also enjoys singing and likes to focus on the relationship of the voice and the trumpet.

After learning from and working with the best of the best of the contemporary scene, her desire to go deeper brought her to Istanbul. There, she studied makam theory at the Turkish Music State Conservatory and founded a band, Istanbul Klezmer Kapelye. She has since been a catalyst for the Yiddish music scene in the city. She is thrilled to be sharing the treasures of klezmer brass this year at Yiddish Summer Weimar.
