César Lerner (AR; accordion, piano, percussion, composer)

César is one half of the Lerner Moguilevsky Duo, which has been blowing the minds of audiences around the world for decades. The spontaneity, virtuosity, playfulness and boundless creativity of their improvised concerts simply defies belief. As Alan Bern once said, “This is klezmer on acid.”

In addition, César has composed music for some of the most important films in Argentine cinema in recent decades, including Fabián Bielinsky’s Nueve Reinas and Daniel Burman’s El Abrazo Partido and Derecho de Familia.

Other awards include the Hollywood International Independent Documentary Award for the soundtrack of Lea y Mira dejan su huella (directed by Poli Martinez Kaplun) and a Gardel Award nomination (2020) for the soundtrack of the documentary La Experiencia Judía, de Basavilbaso a New Amsterdam by Miguel Kohan.

César is internationally renowned as a teacher and leads drum circles as “collective rituals” through music, aimed at unearthing the participants’ creativity.
