Maximilian Löwenstein (DE; dramaturgy, directing)

is a freelance dramaturg. He worked as a dramaturg at Schauspiel Essen from 2023 to 2025, with a focus on digital strategies, and from 2016 to 2023 at the State Theater of Darmstadt.

From 2002 to 2006, he studied acting at the Mozarteum University, Salzburg. As an actor, he has been an ensemble member of the Residenztheater Munich and the Stadttheater Erlangen and has appeared as a freelancer at Theater Konstanz, Phönix Theater Linz, Theater im Bauturm, Cologne, Athens Festival, and the National Theatre of Taiwan, Taipei.

He works on independent projects as dramaturg, author, translator and director, most recently in Vienna, 1901: Ein Zuckerkandl Salon as part of the Doppelbildnisse festival at the Alte Synagoge, Essen.

His work focuses on diversification and digitization processes.

He has worked on productions that have been invited to the Heidelberger Stückemarkt, the Woche der jungen Schauspieler*innen (Week of Young Actors) in Bensheim, and the Bavarian and Hessian Theatre Days, among others.
