
Rosamond van Wingerden (USA/NL/DE; voice, dance)
is a singer, Yiddish dancer, and writer. She first came to Yiddish Summer Weimar as a Fulbright Grant recipient researching traditional and contemporary Yiddish song, mentored by Alan Bern, and studied with Cantor Sveta Kundish.
As a member of the collective YIDDISH.BERLIN, Rosamond organizes cultural events that bring together Berlin’s vibrant Yiddish language and music communities. She regularly leads Yiddish song workshops and zingerayen and has performed with musicians and ensembles including Alan Bern, Patrick Farrell, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Eighth Blackbird, and Roomful of Teeth.
Rosamond also contributes to the Forverts Yiddish newspaper. She holds a BA summa cum laude in Comparative Literature and Music from Princeton University and is completing an MA in Society, Law and Religion in Leuven, Belgium.
Her debut album, a project with guitarist Jordan White that combines new and traditional Yiddish songs with experimental jazz and electroacoustic music, will be released in late 2025.
