Szilvia Csaranko (DE/HU; accordion, piano)

comes from a Hungarian family of musicians and is an accordionist, pianist and music teacher. She lives in Hannover

Szilvia is a co-founder and musical director of the Klezmerorchester Erfurt, an 80-piece amateur orchestra that brings together amateur and professional musicians from all over Europe. She regularly teaches klezmer workshops in Germany and abroad, including at international festivals such as Klezfest London, KlezKanada and Yiddish New York (online), and she has been a lecturer at Yiddish Summer Weimar many times.

Szilvia has played in a duo with London clarinettist Susi Evans since 2019. The two have released several studio albums and self-published the Klezmer Playbook, a collection of sheet music for 50 klezmer standards. Susi and Szilvia are active participants in the Kiselgof-Makonovetsky Digital Manuscript Project (KMDMP). Their most recent album, Fun an Altn Klezmer Heft, is the result of years of intensive research and sifting through these archival manuscripts.
