Szilvia Csaranko (DE/HU; accordion, piano, arranging)
was born in Hungary into a family of professional classical musicians. She trained in classical piano and graduated from the University of Hildesheim in Cultural Education Studies.
Based in Hannover, Germany, Szilvia performs internationally as an accordionist, pianist, and arranger. While specialising in klezmer music, her musical interests also include traditional Eastern European styles, particularly Bulgarian, Moldavian, and Hungarian folk music, as well as Balfolk.
She is the co-founder and Musical Director of the Klezmerorchester Erfurt, an 80-piece orchestra bringing together amateur and professional musicians of all generations and musical backgrounds.
With her duo partner, klezmer clarinetist Susi Evans, she has released four studio albums and co-authored The Klezmer Playbook, a collection of 50 klezmer standards.
A highly regarded educator, she regularly teaches workshops internationally, including at KlezFest London, KlezKanada, Yiddish New York (online), and Yiddish Summer Weimar.
