Vivien Zeller (DE; violin, dance)
is a freelance musician and an instrumental and dance teacher. She has been involved with traditional music from Germany and Europe, as well as respective dances and improvisational performance practice since the age of 16.
She composes her own dance music pieces and plays in various ensembles, including TradTöchter, Viertour, and Pulse du Bal. She is also part of various German-European music projects such as PoMore DanzOrkestria.
Vivien is a much sought-after course instructor and is known for her comprehensive and holistic instrumental and dance lessons on topics such as dance grooves, arranging, improvisation, traditional dance improvisation/balfolk, German dances and pieces, and traditional/improvised contra dances.
She is co-organizer of the Klangrauschtreffen, Deutschfolkfestival, and Nordfolkfestival, researches traditional dance music in German-speaking countries, is co-initiator of the YouTube channel “TradTanzMusik”, website “tanzmusikarchiv.de”, and works at the Center forTraditional Music Schwerin and the Other Music Academy.
Since March 2023, she has been active on the board of ProFolk e.V. and head of the associated German folk initiative, and since 2025 head of the Leipzig Folk Orchestra.
