The Other Europeans
Moldavian-Yiddish Repertoire & Style

July 13 - 20, 2025; unstructured (free) day: July 17
10 a.m. - 1 p.m. | advanced
3 - 6 p.m. | intermediate

with Marin Bunea, Adam Stinga & Christian Dawid

The topic of Yiddish Summer Weimar in 2008 & 2009 was The Other Europeans (TOE), an EU-supported project, including 14 stellar musicians, that explored a very special Moldavian-Yiddish repertoire played by klezmorim and lautari. 17 years later, we welcome back master musicians and original TOE members Marin Bunea (violin), Adam Stinga (trumpet) and Christian Dawid (clarinet) to lead this workshop.

The intermediate level will present repertoire, genres, style and ornamentation at a comfortable pace. It is aimed at technically proficient players who are newcomers to the topic, as well as those wishing to review or update their knowledge.

The advanced level will work on more difficult materials at a fast pace. This level is intended for conservatory-level players with at least some prior knowledge of the topic.

Both the intermediate and the advanced level will work both with written music and by ear.
Please refer to the self-tests for instrumental workshops if you are unsure about your level.

Take the test!
