Volunteering – Be a part of the festival!

The registration for YSW volunteering is open! If you don’t want to miss any announcements about our volunteering and international youth exchange projects, then please sign up for our Newsletter!

Yiddish Summer Weimar (YSW) is considered one of the world’s most important and most inclusive Yiddish culture festivals. Each year, a community of artists, scholars, musicians, workshop participants and guests from around the world gather here to experience and shape Yiddish culture in workshops, jam sessions and concerts.

Forming the backbone of this community are our many volunteers, whose contributions have  made this unique festival possible for more than 20 years.

Join us and become a part of our community! Whether for one week or the entire duration of the festival, whether as an intern or a volunteer; you can support the Yiddish Summer Weimar team in many ways.

Depending on your interests, you can support the Yiddish Summer Weimar team in different areas:

  • Support as an artist buddy
  • Supporting the workshops
  • Assistance in the office and project management
  • Assistance at the info point and at the merch shop
  • Support for the festival kitchen
  • Reinforcement of the social media team
  • Support at events

  • Joining the festival Awareness Team

We offer you:

  • Participation in contemporary, living Yiddish culture
  • A diverse, relaxed and open team with a horizontal leadership structure
  • The space to contribute your own strengths and develop new skills
  • The opportunity to become part of an international community of culture makers
  • Free admission to all events and insights into the content of workshops
  • A qualified internship certificate upon request

We are looking for open-minded and flexible people who like to work in a team and get involved. You don't need any experience in festival work, but should be willing to learn new things.
German, Yiddish or other language skills and a driver's licence are welcome, but not prerequisites.

Arrange your internship period flexibly - you can help with preparation starting in May, work during the festival from July 12 to August 17, 2024 or help with follow-up until the end of August.

The FAQ Volunteers provides more information about Yiddish Summer Weimar and the requirements for volunteers.
