She'Koyokh (1st concert) The UK's leading klezmer-Balkan band
Fri, Aug 9 ‘24 07:30 PM
Kleine Synagoge

She'Koyokh presents a dazzling melting pot of cultures and styles, from 19th-century Eastern European Jewish wedding music to Sephardic Jewish songs and festive music from the Balkans, Greece, and Turkey. The seven-piece ensemble has been hailed as “one of the finest and most entertaining British-based exponents of global music” (The Guardian). A live force to be reckoned with, She’Koyokh is a wild swirl of clarinet, violin, jazzy guitar licks, accordion, double bass and dance-inducing percussion, plus the sweet and passionate voice of Çiğdem Aslan. "What makes She'Koyokh stand out? It’s that most simple and obvious of things: they’re just all very, very, good musicians" (fROOTS).
