Broygeztants
Bessarabian Klezmer
Broygeztants presents klezmer music and Yiddish song from Bessarabia, a region where Yiddish life and music thrived through centuries of exchange with other cultures. From energetic dance tunes to meditative solo melodies, traditional Yiddish songs to theatrical showstoppers, the ensemble takes a journey through the huge variety of Bessarabian music — Yiddish as well as Moldovan, Ukrainian and more.
Broygeztants, which takes its name from a traditional wedding dance that teaches the couple how to reconcile after a conflict, is a new, young klezmer band that first met at Yiddish Summer Weimar.
