If I Were an Angel…
If I were an angel, what would I do now? In Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical tradition, angels are not winged beings, but structured expressions of divine energy that create a connection between the Infinite and the world. As human beings, we are invited to find new paths in our actions—but to do so as if there were no angels, so that we ourselves are called upon to act.
This concert asks the question: If I were an angel, what would I do with this world right now?
Shura Lipovsky presents a program of Yiddish songs that seeks answers to this question, accompanied by Marjolijn van Roon on kaval and recorders, and Ilya Shneyveys on piano, accordion, and other instruments.
Ida Gillner
Shtoltse lider
The Swedish duo Shtoltse lider invites their audience to a devoted and heartfelt concert of Yiddish poetry set to their original music. Featuring women writers from a hundred years ago, a time of flourishing Yiddish culture, Shtoltse lider highlights norm-breaking and almost forgotten poets with their captivating music, passionate approach and engaging storytelling. Words and music are carefully woven together and move freely between klezmer, nordic folk song, tango, cinematic chamber music and the bittersweet spirit of 1920s cabaret.
Ida Gillner’s vivid piano playing and ethereal voice intermingled with Livet Nord’s passionate yet delicate touch on the violin creates an eclectic musical world of integrity, power, playfulness, and soulfulness bringing a century-old poetry into the present.
In April 2026 Shtoltse lider released their first joint album Queen of Word - A Tribute to Anna Margolin.
