Lerner Moguilevsky Duo Wizards of Klezmer music from Buenos Aires
Sat, Aug 9 ‘25 07:30 PM
Kleine Synagoge

Four decades ago, César Lerner and Marcelo Moguilevsky took up the legacy of the klezmer bands of previous generations in Buenos Aires and transformed it into something brand new and astonishing. They immediately gained international acclaim for their unmatched musicianship, and they have been on the vanguard of New Jewish Music ever since. The fantasy, humor, and soulfulness of their duo improvisations can only be described as magical.

With Russian and Polish grandparents who emigrated to Argentina at the beginning of the 20th century, Lerner and Moguilevsky have truly revolutionized klezmer music, developing a unique language, based on improvisation, that combines musical elements of Argentine folklore, jazz, contemporary music ,and tango. This is a concert not to be missed!
