IMPORTANT CHANGE OF LOCATION AND FORMAT!  This event will be an indoors lecture taking place in the Other Music Academy, Ernst-Kohl-Strasse 23, 99423 Weimar.

At the beginning of the 20th century, a small, unofficial Jewish community formed in Weimar. Its members organized religious instruction and closed their stores on Jewish holidays. However, nationalist anti-Semitic voices grew louder and eventually became dominant. Weimar Jews were forced to give up their businesses, were expelled from school, and were forced to live in ghetto houses. They tried to flee, committed suicide, or faced deportation to concentration camps. Within a few years, Weimar's Jewish community was wiped out.
On this tour, we will learn more about the Weimar Jewish community's disenfranchisement and persecution and get to know the lives of some of those who are commemorated today by Stolpersteine.

Language: All tours will be conducted in German, with a simultaneous English translation via headsets available for up to 10 people per tour.
