Artistic Director of YSW, Alan Bern, and his colleague Mark Kovnatskiy perform klezmer music with both incredible nuance and furious, driving energy. They are masters of the sublime tradition of klezmer music: repertoire for deep listening and reflection at the most serious moments of weddings and other rituals. They breathe the music together with astonishing spontaneity and feeling. In this concert, Bern and Kovnatskiy will perform little-known gems of traditional klezmer music as well as their own original compositions.
