Isabel Frey (AT; voice, composer)

is a Yiddish singer, ethnomusicologist, and cultural organizer.

She currently works as a Senior Artist at the Department of Folk Music Research and Ethnomusicology at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she researches and teaches Yiddish music.

She is an internationally recognized performer of Yiddish song and has released several albums, including Millennial Bundist (2020), the duo album Soveles with Esther Wratschko (2022), and Di Fliendike Pave (2024), which features her own musical settings of Yiddish poetry.

With Benjy Fox-Rosen, Isabel co-led the arts-based research project Challenging the Theater of Memory.

She performs and teaches at international Yiddish music festivals and was selected for the Austrian Foreign Ministry's New Austrian Sound of Music program (2023-2024). Isabel co-curates the KlezMORE Festival in Vienna and is also the founder of the Jewish-Arab peace initiative Standing Together Vienna.
